Fashion designer Tom Ford is redefining luxury for a new era. In April 2005, he announced the creation of the Tom Ford brand and in 2006 Tom Ford Beauty launched with Black Orchid, now a modern classic fragrance. This was followed by Tom Ford for Men in 2007 and Private Blend, a collection of unisex fragrances that opened the door to the mesmerising world of artisanal scent. Since then, Tom Ford has expanded his fragrance range with more award-winning fragrances.

Tom Ford thinks that beauty is a potent way for a man and woman to transform themselves. He believes that make-up, skincare and fragrance have the potential to enable them to become as glamorous and as inspirational as they can possibly be. There are no words for this cologne/perfume. Such a sophisticated approach, dark with floral undertones, Intense yet paradoxically subtle, mysterious and alluring, in general a universal scent perfect for both for women and men.

It’s a very unique fragrance as it initially has a very floral smell I could see why it comes across as a little feminine. But after an hour, it breaks down into a dark, sweet-smelling scent that really captivates attention, yet still is subtle enough for daytime wear. I highly suggest that you use it to work as it is a strong and mature scent that your colleagues will love *or hate. The fact that it’s EAU DE PARFUM instead of EAU DE TOILETTE, because the second the scent starts to fade out on me, a small walk around the office, my body temperature raises & the smell comes right back out.

Just a quick explanation on the main differences between the 2 types of fragrances is the ratio of essential oil and alcohol/ water. The more essential oil present, the more potent the scent and the longer it will last on the skin. Easy, right? Let me explain a little more. The perfect entry point into the world of fragrances, an EDT which usually contains less than 10% essential oil and is ideal for everyday use.

Something I used to get as a kid, with a smaller budget. On the other hand with a higher concentration of essential oils totting up to around 15% to 20% an Eau de Parfum provides a richer, deeper scent than an Eau de Toilette. This makes it a very popular choice amongst those who want a perfume with longevity and therefore top’s my list when it comes to buying a perfume.

Key Notes:

– BLACK TRUFFLE –

– BERGAMOT –

– BLACK ORCHID –

– BLACK PLUM –

– NOIR GOURMAND ACCORD –

– PATCHOULI –

Truly lasts all day, I use 3 sprays: front & back of the neck and once on my wrist whilst I rub them together. As I’ve said before, I consider the Black Orchid as more of a daytime scent. It is light and not overpowering, yet the dark & mysterious scent would work for the night time as well. A luxurious and sensual fragrance of rich, dark accords and an alluring potion of black orchids and spice, Tom Ford Black Orchid is both modern and timeless. Bottled in fluted, black glass, Black Orchid makes an unforgettable statement of iconic style and worldly glamour.
